Staying in Odessa!

Hello Everyone!

It's been a good week. We had transfers on Wednesday, and I'm staying in Odessa. It's getting warmer and wetter! The rain didn't hinder our work though. That was a miracle.

We tried out a few new areas this week, which was pretty successful! A few of the people we met didn't realize that the church still sends missionaries. One of the highlights of the week was a presentation by Gladys Knight and the Saints Unified Voices choir. Gladys Knight bore her testimony of the church and directed the choir. It was a lot of fun, and had great turnout! We were able to have some less active members of the ward come with us, and they came to church the next morning!

Have a great week!

Sister Hunt 5/16/16

Hello Everyone!

Pretty great week. Not a whole lot to report. We saw another alligator. Small tendon problem. Clear skies all week. Transfers this upcoming week.

We've been fasting and praying that we will be able to find someone who is prepared to receive the gospel. We've had a lot of blessings in answer to those prayers. Just before we were about to go in Saturday night, we stopped to talk to one more person. She is so awesome! We got talking about her religious background a bit, and she agreed to come to church with us the next morning! And she came! Our Heavenly Father answers prayers.

I hope you're all doing well!

Love,

Happy May!

Hello Everyone!

The last few weeks have been pretty busy, so I didn't get a chance to send out a group email. But busy is good!

We had Zone Development Day on the 25th. We Played volleyball, then we had a meeting and a few of the missionaries from the zone were asked to bare their testimonies. One of the important things I pulled from the day is that we are each here for a reason. All of us have something we can do to help and lift those around us. Each of us has a gift that will bring someone else the light of the gospel. One of my favorite hymns lately is "Brightly Beams Our Father's Mercy," which talks about how Jesus Christ is the Light, but He allows us to help others as He does.

Another exciting thing that happened since my last email -- we stayed inside sick for a few days. As  a missionary, getting sick is awful because all you want to do is be outside teaching people, and all you can do is be inside thinking about it. But the thinking time was good for me. I was reading some scriptures, and I came to the conclusion that I wanted to be all in. C.S. Lewis says it best: "Give me all. I Don't want so much of your time, so much of your talents and money, and so much of your work: I want You. All of you. . . Hand it all over to me and I will make of you a new self in my image. Give me yourself and in exchange I will give you Myself. My will, shall become your will. My heart, shall become your heart." That is what I want to give the Lord, and I know that as I give the Lord all, He gives me all.

We had a bit of a miracle this last week. We were tracting (knocking on doors -- any of you who know about missionary work know that this is usually one of the least effective ways to find people who want to learn). We met a man who came close to baptism a few years ago, but he couldn't give up coffee, but he's ready to learn more and will consider being baptized! We read Alma 5:26 with him and talked about how the Lord knows we make mistakes, and we can change and become better. It was awesome.

Mothers' Day was good! We got treats from some of the ward members. And we got to call home! It was a bit stressful before the call because we were constantly thinking about how we were going to fit everything in 40 minutes. But I have a great family, and they inspired me to keep working hard and serving as best as I can.

I hope you all have a great week!
