Hello Everyone!

This week we had some plans fall through, so we had a little more time on our hands than we were comfortable with. We knocked on some doors, and had some unplanned opportunities to teach. We prayed that we would be able to find people to teach, and our prayers were answered!

It's been chilly this week! This weekend got into the upper 40s in the evenings... I am so glad I'm not serving somewhere with snow!

I've been reading/listening to old conference talks, and one I really liked this week was "Following Up" by Elder Ballard in April 2014. It has some great ideas for sharing the Gospel, I encourage you to read it!

I hope you're all doing well! Thanks for your thoughts and prayers.

Have a great week!

Happy New Year!

Hello Everyone!

I'm excited for everyone to get back on normal schedules this week. Holidays are a little more tricky for meeting with people, but we still had some awesome lessons and contacts. I will miss the Christmas hymns playing in the clubhouse though.

We felt impressed to study how to help people make and keep commitments, and were able to apply what we learned with the people we teach. I love John 7:17- "If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself" (emphasis added). As we act, we can know if what we are acting on is truth. As the people we've been teaching started to understand why we ask them to act (by praying, reading, coming to church, etc.) they started to understand better the doctrine. One investigator was able to identify that the Holy Spirit was teaching her as we helped her keep her commitment.

New Year's Eve we got to go to a baptism for some of the 8-year-olds in the ward! We had a quick lesson and treat with Lymariz and Alberto. That's about it... I hope you all had a good New Year! It was good to reflect on where I'm at on some of my goals.

Happy New Year, and have a great week!

Hello Everyone!

This week, we had some fun reminders that Christmas is around the corner! The Relief Society had a white elephant gift exchange, and we brought our friend Sherry, who we've been teaching. I got a candle, Sister Durrant got a plaque, and Sherry got a lovely cow hoof flask...   But it was fun :)

I am staying in Tampa 2 again!

We got to go with Lorraine to the family history center. She is so excited to start her family history, especially so she can bring her family names to the temple and be baptized on their behalf.

Church was awesome yesterday! The primary kids sang a couple Christmas songs in Sacrament meeting. I was especially touched by these lyrics: "Hosanna! Hosanna! Oh, let us gladly sing. How blessed that our Lord was born; let earth receive her King!" I am so grateful for this time of year that we get to remember that Christ was born, and that because He came to the world and did all that He promised to do, we can rely on Him.

Merry Christmas! Have a great week!

Hello Everyone!

We had a good week! The weather has been nice and it has been fun finding some opportunities to serve and inviting others to serve for #LIGHTtheWORLD. I attached the calendar so you can do it with me if you'd like :)

I loved the Christmas devotional last night! I have been thinking about the scripture story that was mentioned (in 3 Nephi), in which the people Christ visited prayed for the Spirit to be with them. President Monson noted in a past talk that the spirit of Christmas is the Spirit of Christ. I hope you each are finding opportunities to have that Spirit with you!

Have a great week!

Hello Everyone!

I hope you all had a good Thanksgiving. Our friend Mel invited us over for fried tacos! Very different for Thanksgiving, but they were really good.

We met a few people this week who are so genuine and so hungry spiritually. It reminded me of the scripture (D&C 123:12-13) that says "they are kept from the truth because they know not where to find it" and that we should "wear out our lives in bringing to light all hidden things of darkness, wherin we know them; and they are truly manifest from heaven." One of these, Dan, has been seeking. As we were able to share with him the message that Jesus Christ's gospel has been restored to the earth through living prophets, and as he learned in church yesterday, his countenance changed. He said it was refreshing to hear that after this life those who have passed away without the opportunity will have the opportunity to accept the Savior's Atonement. Amazing. I love seeing people taste the fruit of the gospel for the first time.

We had a pretty good week as far as teaching goes. Thursday was a little slow, but Saturday was fantastic! We were busy all day. Monday we had a zone meeting.

We are so excited for #LIGHTtheWORLD ! It's a Christmas advent calendar, but instead of taking out a little chocolate (or whatever), there will be a world wide opportunity to serve for the first 25 days in December. (Example: Jesus fed the hungry, so can you! Invite a neighbor to dinner or donate to a food bank). It's going to be a great way to reach out to others and feel the Spirit of Christ this Christmas. The calendar is on mormon.org if you want to do it with me!

Have a great week!

Here are some pictures from cake with Lymariz, Alberto, and Tristin. Tristin was being funny so we didn't all look at the same time...

Dwight finally made it to church! He went consistently in NY but it was harder coming down here. Some members had us and him over for dinner.

I gave a talk about the gospel of Jesus Christ in Sacrament meeting faith, repentance, baptism, receiving the Holy Ghost, and enduring to the end).

Hello Everyone!

We had a pretty great week! A few highlights:

I have been thinking this week a lot about our zone conference last week, which inspired me to want to be a more consecrated follower of Jesus Christ. A favorite scripture as I have been reviewing is Alma 42:27. Basically, we will always have the choice to follow and will never be forced.

This week we have been extra grateful for the cooler weather as our AC has been out. Thankfully, our fans and windows work great :)

I turned 20 yesterday! We are going to go have a birthday treat with Lymariz today. Thank you to everyone who sent birthday wishes and notes. I felt loved.

More importantly... Lorraine was confirmed yesterday (and baptized Saturday)! She has worked so hard to be ready to make that promise with God. It was amazing to be there with her, and especially to feel the Spirit as she was given the Gift of the Holy Ghost. She has been so happy!

I have been thinking lately about the role of righteous examples. Thank you to each of you for the positive influence you have had on my life. Keep making a difference for others!

Love,
