New companion!

Hello Everyone!

Quick letter this week because preparation day is a little shorter. Transfers were this week. My new companion is Sister Durrant, and she is awesome! It has definitely been a personal growth week. It has been a little stressful learning the area for myself and teaching another missionary about the area, but we're working on it. We're biking more and Sister Durrant is helping me learn to store contact more effectively. I'm learning that choosing to have faith and trust requires our will and our work.

Have a great week!

Miracles

Hello Everyone!

This week was one of those weeks that remind me of the bigger picture. Alberto was baptized and confirmed! The Spirit was so strong at his baptism. We were able to sing/play "I Know that My Redeemer Lives" for the intermission. What an amazing message - because He lives, we can live again, and we can become clean and new.

His mom, Lymariz, who was baptized in May, received her patriarchal blessing. She felt so much love and remembered that God really does know her. She was so grateful for those who reached out and brought her closer to the Savior, and encouraged us never to give up on sharing the message that God still leads us today.

I was reading in Mosiah 15 this morning. I was impressed that Amulek had challenges and sacrifice because of his service, but he also got to see small glimpses of how God has a perfect timetable. Miracles still happen, we just have to patiently trust the Lord.

I'm so grateful for my opportunity to serve God and my brothers and sisters. I hope you each have opportunities this week to feel His love and to share it with others.

With Love,

Sister Brittany Hunt

9/12/16 Update

Hello Everyone!

It's been a crazy last couple of weeks. We spent a few days on and off lockdown because of the storm. It didn't hit Wesley Chapel too bad, just rainy. One night they had us pack up really quick to stay the night in Tampa with some other sister missionaries so we wouldn't have to chance driving in the morning to a meeting.

Teaching has been good. Tuesday, we had at least one lesson every hour. It was so cool to see so many people have the desire to follow God and know more about Him. That was one of the common themes this week. We met with a man who has had so many trials medically, but has seen miracles and chooses to follow Chist, even when it would be easy not to. He knows there is something more mission in his life, and he's working hard to know that this gospel is it. We met with a sister in the ward who has wanted to come for a long time and has not been able to until recently. She has some pretty heavy family challenges, but she told us "I'm not giving up on this eternal family!" It has been so humbling to see so many of God's children stand so firm in their faith.

Hope you all have a great week, and thank you for your thoughts and prayers!

Love,
Sister Brittany Hunt

update 8/29

Hello Everyone!

We had a pretty good week! We had zone conference on Thursday, and stake conference on Saturday and Sunday. Elder and Sister Foster and Elder and Sister Kosta came and spoke. I loved having the opportunity to have special training from these servants of the Lord. One of the things President Cooper mentioned is that the Book of Mormon has the power to connect people to Heaven. I know this is true. The training focused on the importance of member missionary work. Once we have felt God's love, we have a responsibility to share it so that others can too, no matter what stage we are in our lives, name tag or not. I'm excited to apply the things I learned!

Have a great week!

Update 8/22/16

Hello Everyone!

This week was pretty good. Alberto came to church! We have been focusing on teaching him in a way that he will understand, so we have been using a lot of object lessons and examples. He's getting really excited for his baptism.

Favorite scipture of the week: Helaman 10:12. Nephi is finally headed home after a struggle with an unrepentant people. On his way, the voice of the Lord blessed him with increased power and understanding, and then commanded him to go and preach repentance. He stops in his tracks and goes back to follow the command of the Lord. When we immediately obey, even when it's hard or we think we need a break, we are blessed.

Have a fantastic week!

I've been transferred to...

Hello Everyone!

Transfers happened this week! I am now serving in Tampa 2! My companion's name is Sister Felt. It's been a good week! We have 2 malls in the area, so we got to go contact in them a few times. That was a lot of fun. We met a lot of people who want to learn and build their faith! I'm working on learning my way around the area and getting into the teaching groove with a new companion. It'll be a great transfer!

Have a great week!

6 Months!

Hello Everyone!

Not much to report this week. I hit my 6 month mark! It's crazy how fast missions fly by. We had a zone training meeting this week on teaching repentance. One of my favorite lines in one of the missionary manuals is "Repentance is not just the backup plan. Repentance is the plan of happiness for every person." The Savior loves us, and He wants us to experience joy. We can do so as we strive to be a little more like Him every day.

Have a great week!
